That's a turbo diesel with intercooler. It will only see light trail duty until I SAS it then you'll be really jealous. At least I'm not posting of picture trying to flex out a stock IFS rig.

It's quite the machine:

120 bhp
220 ft/lb
4 spd auto 3 modes
superselect t-case (2H, 4H, 4H & 4L Lock)
9.5" rear diff
8.0" front diff
7 pass
dual auto climate
adjustable shocks

Dakar anyone?

I'll take my Turbo Diesel Grand over that any day
215 hp.

800 km/tank

I didn't even know Jeep got their heads out of the sand long enough to put a better engine in their Grand Heep. That's good to know. It sounds very impressive with the Mercedes Diesel under the hood. A little out of my price range. Also it sounds like a real complicated system and expensive to repair if anything go wrong... Dual over-head cams, a variable geometry turbo, piezo-actuated injectors...the engine is equipped with the latest in diesel technology and it feels absolutely great.... I prefer simple and something I can wrench.

Can you work on this thing yourself?

http://www.bc4x4.com/features/2007/gc-crd/gc-crd.jpg

Hopefully the transmission isn't designed by Chryler as proven that they can't hold up to the Cummins diesels in the F/S trucks.

Do you wheel this thing? Or is it a mall crawler too?

Is this site slower than the 2nd coming of Christ or what. Want some money to upgrade?

Vastier
06-17-2009, 04:30 PM
Can't touch it for 5 years until the warranty is up and then I don't think I'd want to. It's getting a bit far out of my technical reach.
This is staying pretty much a mall crawler for the misses.
Any wheeling it will sees will be on the lighter side. I've got the TJ for the other stuff.

My only problem is that you and another party resorted to threats rather than coming up with something smart to say back. That shows thin skin. If you're going to act like you're twelve than so be it. I'm not threatening you am I or maybe I am in an intelectual way and you got nothing to say back?

So anyway...

My name is Matt, I've lived in Delta most of my life. I have a couple old Ford 4x4's, both 1978's and of the 1/2 ton variety. They run great when they are together. My favorite is a 1978 Bronco because of the half top convertible and fairly stout factory drivetrain. The issues I have with it was I've never had it together long enough to enjoy taking it anywhere. Slowly making progress in getting everything buttoned up but it's a slow go. Should have 4" of lift, 35's, locker rear and LSD front. I'll fab some bumpers, PTO wench, a console big enough for a flat on ice, rocking stereo...etc. I'll call it the Magic Brownie. I also recently bought a POS Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero in NA) because of its fuel efficient diesel powerplant and Dakar proven chassis. It has lots of potential and the first mod is larger rubber and a slight t-bar crank. It's replacing my previous DD that folded up in a car wreck in Manning on May long.

I'm self employed in Abbotsford, BC and measure parts for manufacturing of all sorts in Western Canada, injection moulding, machining, grinding...if it's made it can be measured. Now your asking yourself how does all this apply...well lets say Jeep made a unibody vehicle and the process varied too much and when they installed the axles they couldn't align the steering properly and Jeeps were going in ditches all the time. That's where a guy like me comes in...establish a reference system along the centerline of the frame and we quantify what is out and by how much. How much does it vary over 100 vehicle assemblies? Then we can correct the process and build things that work properly. Next time you get into a helicopter or airplane you'll be more relived to know that a guy like me was checking parts so the thing doesn't fall from the sky cause a hole was tapped the wrong size. Also you could bring me a part from a model 't' transmission that may be worn beyond repair. I could measure the old, make a CAD model and then make you a new one. Anything is possible. Old aircraft & helicopter parts use this process too called reverse engineering.

A few people on the boards no that I'm generous and willing to lend a wrench or torch and get dirty.
