got tired of smashing my box on stuff so decided to put my new stick welder to use. used 3/16 2" od tube for structure, 3/16 1.5" od tube for sliders and some 3"x3" angle for the sides. it is 5' wide slid in and 8' wide slid out so ill be able to fit 2 sleds.

still getting the hang of the stick but its coming along

things left to do:
-buck off frame behind leaf mount and weld in piece of 6" channel
-weld on diamond plate deck on 5' wide portion
-make some kind of 1.5' wide inserts for when its slid out
-mount tail lights, side marker lights and tow points on channel
-build some small side storage boxes and and headache rack
-make some mounts out of tube to replace the washers

anyway thats all for today let me know what you guys think.

That's an awesome idea. Looks great! You could build the inserts with a 2" or so C channel, mount it upside down under the checker plate, drill some holes and use receiver pins to hold it in place. (Just my 2 cents)

good idea with the slider
definatly make some pins to hole them in both positions
thats alot of washers on those bolts too[f]

had planned on drilling the front and rear sliders in both positions for reciever pins and the washers are only for mock up till i figure out some mounts, 3 on each side.

add some grease fitting on the slides so they don't rust up. drill a hole weld anut put in fitting on the undr side so you can get at them easy.

Whats your spacing on your crossmembers they look kinda far a part should be either 12 or 16" centers" Not to sure on your choice of material either I would have used 3" channel and lost the sliders and a 4" channel mininmum as the longsill but if you think that it will strong enough alls good

looks good,, i have seen lots of sketchy sled decks built outta 3/4 box with 1/4 or 1/2 plywood decking.. yours will be solid!! best part of flat decks is adding accesoris that you can hook in [36]

nice Idea ,for the fold outs I would hinge them to the 5 foot part then they will fold right out and there not a pain to lift all the time ,

Love the slider idea. But don't forget to put clearance lights on them for when there extended. Keep up the good work and good ideas comming.
