View Full Version : need help with picking a drive shaft

I need to know if I can use a front drive shaft from a xj for the rear of my yj is an xj a 1310 joint will it bolt up to my sye? And is it beefy enough to work any ideas suggestions would help

Yes, use the xj front, shorten it, works good, did my Jeep with a detroit, no problems at all.

they will fit and alot of guys use them. i have one at home that needs new u joints i bought from pick a part. it was from a v8 cherokee just get it shortened. i dont think they balance anything that short so it should only be around 100 bucks depending who ya know

just make sure the one you get from the junkyard has the rubber seal in the middle, to protect the piviot ball. if that wears out it gets a wee bit rough. mine are both xj fronts, but I ended up getting the rear one re-tubed because cracked the tube that i extended

i got a 92 xj shaft changed all the joints and its in getting cut and balanced so i will be up and running tomorow thanks to the guys at jeap thrills and garys thanks for all the help and advice
