Isn't the '95 a TBI and the '99 Vortec? You should be able to put the vortec heads and intake onto the '95. Not sure if you can use the vortec manifold on the TBI heads and even if they did fit, pretty sure you'd notice a power loss. The Vortec heads are supposed to be pretty decent out of the box.

ur gonna have to swap over the heads and what not aslong as you didnt crack them or anything when the old motor blew up .. then all the comp and shit will work with the 95 motor

That kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Having to rebuild a motor to put it in, why not rebuild the one that's there, or get the right one.

No it wont work, the vortec also has a crank sensor and a roller cam, the dist gear my eat the non roller cam.

didn't 99 trucks go to newer 5.3l engines and body style ?

Not sure if that was 99 or 2000 but its possible.
And yes the crank trigger could be a problem as well. Some tbi engines were roller but not many of the truck blocks.

In 99 you could get the 'classic' which is the old style body, and yes the 99 has a crank sensor. The 99 timing cover is also a one use item,if you take it off it warps and will never seal properly after.
