So i have a 1998 f-150 4.6l and well it is quiet as shit and i want to make it loud without blowing up the motor...........

So my question is will i blow up the motor if i just run pipe straight back off the stock cat.....like is there enough back pressure.....?

its velocity you want not back pressure.

To increase velocity you go to a smaller exhaust size. To a point tho. Not having enough back pressure will cause poping and backfiring when engine breaking.

I have a 76 buick electra with a 455 that has stock SINGLE 1.75" exhaust. Quite as hell but im sure it robs allot of power will still break the rear end lose going 50 tho.

you should be able to cut the muffler out and fill it with a piece of pipe without any probs, just alot more noise

then just replace with a straight flow through muffler like a cherry bomb or somthing

did that on my 92 ford 4.9 because the exhaust rotted off, just ran the cat with a 2.25 pipe off of it, it popped and gurgled a lot, was fun at first, but i grew to hate the tractor sound

Yes just do it. My gf's dad cut out the muffler and put in a straight pipe on his 97. My dad cut his muffler out and ran DUAL 2.5" Straight pipes from the cats back. Also a 97 F-150 with a 4.6L. Sounds extremely bad ass! No problems after 100,000kms

I pulled my muffler and rest of exhaust off my 351 just after the cat. not crazy loud but sounds nice and throaty. does pop and fart quite a bit when down shifting at higher rpm though

why would you take the muffler off and leave the cat on:dontknow: . you dont want it to run any better you just wanna be loud:dontknow: sounds a little dumb to me. cut off the cat, weld on a collector and throw on a 40 sereis or somthin. go 2.5 itll sound great for a stock six.

straight pipes, short exhaust and shitty drony sounding aftermarket exhaust get real lame after a month of driving or so.

but that doesnt matter, as long as it SOUNDS BADASS!!!111!(%93793UMurdumb
