View Full Version : oval or square or rectangular ports???

Can someone post the differences between them ,,, been all over th enet and it seems everything I look at is defferent from the last..

some are square to me but oval to others so a lil help please

its got to do with flow rates
peanut port is generally smaller and it works its way up to rectangle port

LOL I guess I should have been more specific I need to know what they look like t I see whaat it is I got can't tell. They are. Square ish but rounded edges I'll post pix

if you post a pic i can tell ya
if you can also include casting number
you might have large oval heads

the oval port is a lo rpm head on the big block chevy the squareport is a small block head and the rectangular port is a high rpm head found on L88 and ZL1 427s, as well as Ls6 and 7 454 motors from the 60's today youd see them (rectangular ports heads) as an after market heads. Oval port heads are mostly found in truck big block motors
