hi to all i just picked up a 4'x6' trailer plain jane. lookig for ideas to make it in to a camping trailer to pull behind a fj 40/ bj 40 and suburban already installed a pintle all ideas would be great

Well I would say get rid of the Pintle. For me my trailer would have been on it’s side countless times if I used a Pntle. The only thing keeping mine up right was the standard hitch not allowing the trailer to roll.

I use a pintle... I've never had a problem....

Yeah I know... my tailgate sucks haha I wasn't finished it but really wanted to take it out to Sunrise... so I improvised.

I have a regular hitch on my trailer. It REALLY does not like the up/down action. Like going through a ditch/washout. It's popped off a couple times and stabbed my tailgate. :mad:
Yes, it was adjusted right. I plan to swap to a pintle. I have the parts...just need to do it.
There are some pretty fancy, very flexable hitches available. I guess one could even make one. I can't remember the company that makes them, but they did make offroad trailers.

is it a utility trailer? or a flat deck trailer?

if you want full articulation in the hitch...look into a lock n roll multi axis coupler. http://www.locknroll.com/

i use a pintle myself for my m101 trailer...no issues so far.
