D44: it looks like the wheel bearing race is stuck onto the spindle.

I tried a BFH and a piece of plywood but it won't budge.

Any suggestions

Swap the plywood for hard wood and beat the shit out of it. It's not as though your not big enough[16]

do you have a slide hammer??? heat the race up and try the slide hammer on it, or very carefully cut through it as much as you can then take a chisle and split the rest of it

Inner race on the spindle?....heat up part of it red hot, whack it with the round end of a ball peen, let it cool a bit and it might come off.

Outer race stuck in the hub?, run a short weld on it, it'll shrink and come out easy.

burn it

Yep....

If you have a stick welder just run a couple good thick beads on the race and give it a couple whacks with your BFH. That'll release the siezed race without damaging the spindle.

Slide hammer, or big ass puller,,,,,,,,I probably have something at home that'll do it. Failing that I can cut it off with the plasma cutter[36]

god damn i love you old timers. this is the good advice!.

Only the old school guys will do it this way too.

no torch :dontknow:

I was using a length of 4X4 and 4lb sledge, but the load banging at 9 pm sounded like gun shots in the neighbourhood so I stopped, it was coming loose, so I'll give it another go this morning [cheers]

Hopefully I can have it ready for Sat, otherwise I'm shotgun
