So I got a phone call from a client today needing some survey work done. Unlike Vancouver we still have 2 1/2 feet of snow around here well at least in nelson and at my house.

There is a catch it is down in Genelle, about half way between Castlegar and Trail, and it is on the river. There is a sandbar or gravel bar what ever you want to call it, and Monday the Columbia river is going to come up. Well we dont get to talk to him till Wednesday(almost thought i was going to have to work the weekend)

Well since with the snow around work is a little slow and most of the crews are on the EI ski team. Which means i got a two day pass to work out side and not chained to the desk doing nothing.

Here is what my two days were like.

103154
My ride in because the road is not plowed in.

103155
The gear that I need for my GPS.

103156
The other quad (my companies) with more survey stuff

103157
my quad ready to log points

103158
With it set up this way all i have to do and it will collect points as I go

103159
what i saw all day long just a little bouncier :happy0045:

103160
this shit sucks to walk on all day long thank you for the quad.

103161
103162
103163
103165
and these are down looking around.

now back to the office to deal with the 5000+ points collected.

Nice looking day.. is that the old topcon system? must be nice being able to drive around taking points on a continuous topo... what was the surveying for?

It's a rough day at work when you get to ride your quad around. [36]

I saw the mobile home park had applied for a crown grant with the ILMB, I'm assuming this is what your were surveying for? I was bored one day looking at applications for tenures and ran across it.

Nope it is a fish habitat project for BCHydro. They had a section blow out a couple of years ago and we were doing a survey to see the extent of the damage and were potential hole would trap the fish. Had to drive through the pools with the quad, there was about 1/2" - 2" of ice in each pool.

yep, but the firmware is up to date and we have a there new data collector it is fast and easy to use. Just love the auto logging feature, we also had our Leica Robotic Total station there, he was getting the fine detail while i was getting the general area.

never a bad day when you get to play with your toys or the company toys. [36]
