i posses an 82 toy long box chopped rear frame rails(roughly 6 inches)
my qustion is, how do i replace the bottom of the frame rail?
its about 8-10 inches long of a crack from the rear driver side spring hanger, nd is about inch to inch nd a half wide.....
do i A. sleeve it?
B. cut out the rusty piece and weld a new 1 in?
C. cut the rustiness right out nd do wat ri0. did the rear of his frame?
Thanks[cheers]

you cut it all off at the back cab mount and re-do the whole back half. harmon did this for his land cruiser i can't remeber what steel he used though

i know why do you think i didnt already grab it ?:dontknow: :D as for a place to do it. you may just need a place to cut your material.
look it up on www.pirate4x4.com they will probally have the material and step by step dirrections to redo your whole rear frame

just fully box around the exsisting frame, cover the inside frame rails under the cab then fully box the rest,i did my toyota and never had rust problems again,i used 1/4inch plate and made templates for both sides of the frame then for the bottom and top i use 1/8inch steel cut into 2 1/2inch x10inch lengths and it worked great[cheers]

He's right, its an easy job, just time consuming.

It helps if you have a good welder.
