A cross between two different falcons??? Does that happen much in the wild? Could you cross other types of BOP'ers.

Nope, you'll never see this crossbreed in the wild. Gyrfalcons live in the Arctic and peregrines live down in southern half of BC. You'll only find it with captive-bred birds with a little 'human' help.

I have never heard of any bird of prey species cross-breeding in the wild. Birds of prey look for their own species when they're trying to find a mate. If they come across another species, especially one that has come into their territory during breeding season, they will drive it out of the area and even fight if they need to. So in other words, no... no cross breeding happens in the wild.

So how do you explain Phil's existance:dontknow: I was always under the impression he was the byproduct of a jackass and a hyena:confused0006:

Awesome pics by the way, what kind of camera are you using?

Well, I guess Phil is a fluke of nature... ;)

The camera I'm using is an Olympus SP-550UZ which has an 18x optical zoom lense on it. It's pretty much a step down from a SLR camera. I love my camera but I'm considering stepping up to a SLR sometime at the end of this year or next year.
