I have an f150 with a 302 auto and 4.10's. Its pretty gutless too. But it is an ext cab with new 36" iroks. And im used to 420+hp in light cars for quarter mile, so maybe that has something to do with it. :confused0006:

Whats your timing set at? They like to run advanced a bit. I'll see if i can find the preferred amount if no one else chimes in.
Also headers and at least 2.5" free flowing single exhaust, 3" would be better. Hi flow cat or cats as well.
Cam upgrade if you want to open the engine up.

igniton coil, cap rotor and wire upgrade and small timing bump will help considerably and give gas mileage a kick in the pants.

bassani Y pipe will also wake it up alot. stock y pipe is super restrictive.

p.s. dont waste money on intake, there isnt much to be improved upon from stock piece.

[stupid] The stock intake makes good torque, which is what you want in a heavy truck.

gears will give it more pep

headers and new exhaust get the air moven and give it a tune up

That could start a whole mess of posts.
I've thought of it too though.

he plans on putting 35's on it.. right now its stock. the motor probbally needs a good internal clean up and rebuild, new bearings seals ETC. but his nissan DD just blew a cylinder so he probbally will put it on the back burner now. what gears would be best for his setup? all I know about his drivetrain is its a 91 (or a 90) with leaf sprung TTB, and a 10.25 i think it is.. in the rear. 8 bolt axles as well. thanks alot for the help guys

i would go 4.88 for 35 cuz the 302 likes to rev and if he decides to go bigger he wont have to regear. wish i went 5.13 with my 38s......

l put a set of 38s on my truck once just for laughs that was kicking around and damn neer took low range to get going.

l have the same truck with the same concerns (90 f-250 5.0L 5spd od 3.55)

l want bigger tires like 37s what is on right now is 33s and is guttless as hell. l am doing dual exhaust w/ cherry bombs or somthing and lowering my axle ratio to l am thinking 4.10s. although l was told that l would get lousy fuel millage as it is my DD.

I'm running 36's with 4.10's and a auto o/d and my milage went up compared to the 3.55's that were in it with 35's.
Still could use more pep though. 4.56 or 4.88 would be better imo.

getting 8-9 mpg city with 38's and 4.88s.......[27] i cant see 37s with 4.10s getting better than that.

l realy dont know what l get for fuel milage now. my speedo / odomitor dont work nor my fule gauge. l decide if l need fuel by listing to my pump befor start up. lol. as long as it is not that huge of a diferance l dont care. actuly l dont realy notice how much less it cost me to drive a mazda 4 banger around for a month.

sorry l kinda hyjacked this thread in the last bit. just trying to decide exactly what gear ratio l sould go with and tire size.

l do want something tall as 33s and a dana 60 dont leve much for ground clearance but l dont want to be overly tall. + l want more torque.
