ive heard that the ttb coils are stiffer.. is that tru? are they like hard as rock if i was to use my coils when i sas.. i currently have the procomp stage2 ttb 6''liftcoils ( there fairly soft ) could i use them on a 79 d44 front end..without it feeling like im driving a dumptruck :dontknow:
i want my front as soft as possible,6 or 8'' coils..any tips on brand names of coils to look into [cheers] thanks

If you plan on using the ttb coils you will need to cut the bottom of them. They mount different on the solid axle.

all ttb coils are alot stiffer than a coil meant for a straight axle

look into james duff, wildhorse 4x4, cage offroad(all early bronco coils)

ok so not guna use my ttb coils lol.. is there any tips on lowering coil buckets.. the coils i got with my axel are about 1.5 rings shorter then my ttb coils and i want to make up the difference+ gain as much lift as possible. if anyone has pics of any customizing/problem areas they had to do while SAS they wana post or pm me.. that would be a bonus.. [cheers]

the reason ttb coils are so stiff is because there about 2" shorter than 78/9 springs due to the differant height buckets. go to pick n pull and spend the 30$ on 79 buckets and buy some deaver superflex coils. you will be glad you did.

I lowered my buckets 2.75". There is two of the rivets in line vertically, i dropped the upper one to the lower hole and redrilled the rest.
Im running the ttb with it that way with no issues. Will probly run the solid axle that way too.
Are your solid coils stock?

If the solid axle springs are longer, wouldnt you get more lift using the ttb coil buckets?
Also pick n pull is picked clean of 70's buckets.

you would get more lift but the longer 79 coils didnt fit well with the ttb buckets when i tried. not to mention ttb buckets have super low stud style shock mounts, better to go with earlier buckets and f250/f350 style eye shock mounts. (true that on pick n pull actually, i snagged the last set off that flat black 79 bronc)

Yup pry bar or drill out what's left of the rivets then pry bar some more.

I ground the heads off and then drilled. Then they came right off. Dont forget the two on the bottom where it wraps under the frame.

Bastard!!!! I was after those buckets. Got the radius arm brackets though.

You just lowered your stock ones?
I did that on my F150 as well. Your blocks under your coil plates are kinda cheating but i was considering that too. :D
Which coils are those?

3.5 " probressive james duff ones the coil buckets are off a EB and in the stock spot the coil spacer is the only other lift item in there

bringing this thread back to life... NEW question.. i think... if i run the 78/9 coil buckets and a 6'' lift coil..will it be exactly same height as before. or are they lower?

fin96

you will get 7-8" of lift over stock height with 6" 79 coils and 79 buckets depending on coils you use.
