change it eather way. they should be able to tell you at your parts store. grab one off the shelf for the mazda and one for the 4spd and compaire them side by side. note the bolt holes thourgh the preasure plate as they should both bolt to the same fly-wheel. and overall diameter and splines for the input shaft.

yes you have to change it. And you have the tanny out anyway so change it.

you dont have to change it but its a good idea while its apart, just swapped my moms mazda tranny for a zf in her 90. good n easy upgrade. the for speed is an external slave, so youd have some plumbin to do, id go with the zf.

reason i ask if i have to change it is because i just put a brand new dual friction centerforce in .. has maybe 1500km on it.. and i dont want to if i can save myself the 300 sum odd dollars for another clutch..
I will forsure be going with the T18 4spd tranny tho..

I don't think it's silly to want to save a new clutch. I do think it's silly going to a 3 speed instead of a zf5. Go zf, much nicer trannie.

let me know how it works out for you because l have been toying around with the idea of this in my truck for a while but was told by a few people that is is a lot of work and not worth it.

l do like thows trannys though.

listen to him, he knows what hes talkin about. there strong trannies, the first gear is nice and low and unlike the t-18 the zf has synchros into first.

i see your point, however the truck is not meant for driving on roads.. I just picked up a t18 N tcase, so ima stuff that in and see how strong she is.. it was cheap enuf so that if i dont like it after all, i can always just swap back over to a ZF and il even have a good new clutch to use [15]
