I'd like to get my propane samurai certified. Anyone know how long a tank lasts before it expires? Mine's 15 years old and is in great shape, I'd hate to have to buy a new one.

in certification you they basicly need to revalve your whole tank, stop fill, releif valve etc. If you go to Autogas make sure you talk to Gord and say your buddy Reece sent ya for a better deal.

Thanks Reece.

If the valves are all in good functioning order, why would they have to replace them?

Simplest way, look at the tag, if it has a 250psi wp, toss it out. If it says 312 psi wp, it's good and doesnt need to be recertified as a tank, just as a installed system. A lot of shops won't certify you if it's a 250 at all. The old system was to recertify after 10 yrs which meant pulling the tank and sending it away. Kinda a fucked up process. The problem was that the tanks rusted and couldn't hold the pressure The newer tanks are thicker, heavier, and much stronger. There also haven't been any real changes in tank teck since theye went to the 312 tanks.
