For New Years this year Derek and I drove up to creston to visit my aunt and uncle who moved there last year.
Wow, 13 hours to get there and only 9 to get back , beautiful country . mostly just scenic pics on the drive there and back

that trip can be very scary and this year the weather was as nasty as it gets here on the wet coast

yeah it was really bad driving there, we got to the last summit and got turned around becuase of an avalanche, had to drive back up to nelson and take the ferry across kootenay lake. very slow go for most of the way there, the drive back was okay, roads were much better, except thru manning park, just one big sheet of ice.
we didnt end up taking the sled, didnt want to have to deal with a trailer on those roads, their neighbours have sleds , derek did a small amount around their yard.

yeah dont want to do that drive to many times, a few close calls but we made. Almost smoked a moose in Manning Park on the way back. a 4 wheel slid in the middle of the highway do 90 will wake u up.
Good way to spend NYE [cheers]

Nice pics, crazy roads, glad I stayed around here for the holidays. 9 hours from creston is still a lot too

Nice shots of the trip! You probably went through Castlegar on the one day flights were actually able to get out. They don't call it Cancelgar in the winter for nothing! :D I helped a buddy move back from Cranbrook (to Castlegar) 2 days before New Years Eve, roads weren't too bad, at least the pass was open.
