maybe a celenoid or a relay I dunno much about zuks but my jeep did the same thing, it shouldnt be the safety switch unless the key wont turn

does the battery have a charge?

I would check battery charge. contenuity on your starter cables from ignition to suilinoid. and then you could try jumping the sulinoid. if starter kicks when you jump sulinoid you need a new one
the battery cant be below 10v or the starter will not engage
and check the upper ignition ground wire mine always corrods and comes off common problem
and if that doesnt work check relay and if your grounding the starter manually and it work 5 or 6 times then doesnt when u smack it with a hammer
then it sounds like the solinoid wire on inside is pooched witch in turn would make it a new starter
check battery for v when running for around 13 to 15v charge
then shut off and let it sit for 2 or 3 hours and check the batt to see it voltage if its abywhere in between 11.8 to 12.8 then the batt is good if not then the battery is pooched
and if all the alternater and battery checks out
then id do the starter
but check relays solinoid and any fuseable link if it has them before u change it !
