I picked up a 85 cherokee with a 327 and turbo 350 in it, mounted to the stock t case with an adapter.
The truck has a 207 t case and i want to know if a 231 will bolt in its place? or is the 207 decent? or do i need a new adapter thanks

the 231 has a slightly better low range than the 207 but is otherwise the same ...... except it is a slip yoke output and I dont think the 207 is
sooooo I would keep the 207 if this is true
check this link........... lots of good info
how are ya mang [cheers]

The 207 will most likely be 21 spline which will mean you will want to swap it with the early 21 spline 231. Late 87 to early 89 Peugeot BA10/5, 6cyl 5spds and all 4cyl 5spds just compare the stick out length of the input shafts on both tcases
the jeep 207 has no real aftermarket support you can only get the cheap and shitty "hack and tap" slip yoke eliminator kit for it.
