When Grandpa and I leave today to go ice fishing, we drive Pathfinder.
Grandpa not warm the old Pathfinder up before we leave.
The drive and reverse not working, so I push the button from auto-power to manual power.
Then, it work just fine. It is a weird transmission.
Have you had this problem before?
I'm not sure what you mean by the button from auto-power to manual-power, do you mean the button on the side of the gear lever that turns overdrive off?
Anyway I've never heard of that specific problem but I know the pathfinder transmissions have a tendency to die due to heat related problems. Sounds like its on its last legs.

Yeah, a friend of mine had a pathfinder about the same year as yours and he had the exact same problem with it for years.
It's very weird but as long it is warmed up ok, it is fine. You can usually put his in reverse once before it is warm but you can't go into drive after or back into reverse.
He still drives it everyday and has had no big problems because of this.
