View Full Version : HELP cant get my truck out of 4LOW???

Hey all...

My trucks stuck in 4 low, its a 07 ford ranger Fx4 Level 2.... It has a switch on the fly switch thing and it wont switch out of 4 low now,,,,:confused0006: its a auto trans... I AM SO LOST WHERE DO I START???

I HAVE NO CLUE where to start with it, i checked the fus and its not blown?? could it be frozen??????

stupid question.... are you putting it in neutral when you try to switch it?

i tried that, but you dont have to it will switch up to 40kph....

backup.. my dads old ford u had to take it out then backup..........

did you check to see if the wires been pulled off at the axels

4lo you must be in N and at a stop... we had that problem today with a customer at work turnd out it was the motor:confused0006:

Ummmm........read the owners manual, to switch out is specific. Complete stop, put truck in neutral, take out of 4lo, release and then re push brakes. And viola you should be out of 4lo. I had the same issue with my F150 , read the owners manual, it works.

swap in a manual t case...













or put in neutral and wait for it to shift with foot on brake.

if it does not shift can you here it (the shift motor)i f not perhaps the connector is un plugged or corroded from deep snow?

blazer has problems with that too. i have to put it in neutral multiple times ebfore it will actually come out of 4l

the truck has to be stoped in N and foot on the brake before it will come out of 4l or the 07 will have warenty left on it

Its more then most likely just the shift motor, or wiring like already stated. Or the push button itself.

Half of the problems with the push buttons is lack of use. Nobody uses them for 11 months and then can't figure out why they don't work. If you switch through the gears once a month and move up and down your driveway it shouldn't freeze or get stuck in gear when you actually need it.
