Hey guys.
I just bought a new 1978 f150 project/runner. This is my 1st real project. I would like to make this into a bogger and a bush rig in timme. Couple things is the passenger door is pretty ugly and I can't find new doors. Any tips on where I could find body parts for this year.
I am wondering where do I start? Diffs, engine, tranny or where eles?
Any tips would be cool.
It has a 351c in it. Dana 44 on coils and I do not know what trany.
Will post pics tomorrow

any body shop can order the chinese knockoff doors
or broncograveyard.com

Lordco can order them as well.............but.................
Chinese crap never fits as well as OEM but plenty good enough for a non show truck or bush truck..

if its gonna be a mud truck or bush rig as you call it, who cares about the body? spend money on lockers, tires and a good suspension lift

gots to have the lockers

Well, I am going to put lockers and some dana 60 rebuild this 351c or put a 460 into her. Put some nice springs in her but also I want to make her look nice too because I am that type of person who likes to have things look nice also.
I am just planning right now

its most likely not a 351c but a 351m. unless someone changed the motor. Is it an auto or standard? short box?

351c was only made from 1970-1974, never offered in a truck unless you consider a ranchero a truck
351m or 400 was factory offered in 78/79

The guy before me did the engine switch to a 351c as we decoded it and its a long box reg cab. I will have pictures soon.
And its a 4 speed manual which is a nice touch

a cleveland swap into a smallblock truck is pretty easy, same mounts same bellhousing
slightly more of a PITA for a 351m/400 truck as the bellhousing must be changed, not sure if the Wheezer mounts will drop onto the M frame pads

Hey i am uploading pictures now.
My thought now is because im poor lol 19 and poor. Should i go pick up a 460 and build up. My plans are put 39s on the truck for mud bogging or build this 351c up? Reason i say this I already did the flywheel - ring gear - clutch and so on why redrop the tranny to swap shit over for a 460? Ya bigger the better but a 351 could hold higher RPM and sound nice?
Any thoughts ill get on those pictures
