Cool thanks. Any idea why mine seems to make a nasty grinding noise when i let off the throttle in 4wd?
I thought originally front diff but i just did my gear swap to 4.10s and its still there. I changed the whole pumkin.

They are chain driven and it could be the chain is pooched and loose and making noise

its not hard to pull apart a 1356 is very common so you could find a good one easy and cheap I'msure

I have a good one in another truck. Just thinking if its an easy fix, why pull apart a running truck.
can the chain be done in the truck or am i dropping it either way?

You have to drop it and dissasemble to replace the chain. Quite involved but no big deal if you usually do your own mech work

Would probably be as cost effective and waaaaaay easier to find a used one and just do the re and re

depend on the kms and the type of usage
they last just fine but are not good for constant heavy duty usage
it wears the chain out

I have a chain driven np208 in my '85 off road bronco and a 1356 in my '87 street bronco.............. both have many kms and still work just fine

Well i was told it was replaced once when i bought the truck but he lied about alot so its probly got 307xxxkm on it like the truck. I was pretty hard on it last time out.
Guessing i should swap it asap and not try to rely on it at all?
