Ok, now this should I hope awaken the Jeep gods on the forum here....
I own a Jeep, it's a '89 XJ Pioneer with the dreaded and now screwed up french built BA-10....
I wanna pop a AX-15 in to it's place.
Done some research but as we all know, there's a few of guys around here that could either save me money by tellin me I don't need this, don't neeed that, or tell me straight up that I"m on crack or it's possible and you never know, I could be very well buying parts from certain places (no, not that place by the Albion ferry as I dread mentioning the name)
Let the ideas flow here. I"m all eyes n ears !

96 and newer? your after an external slave arnt ya!

If you use one from an 89-93 there will be no messing around with the clutch as it is still the internal slave 94 and newer are external slave which will require a clutch mod you will either need to add the later master and hydrolic line or get some adapter fittings and a -3 braided line to connect the external slave to the early master
you will need the cross member and tranny mount as well as the pivot point for the Tcase bell crank moves you will have to redrill the floor bracket while the tranny is out
I think it was in 94 when they changed the slave the pilot bearing snub also changed size so if you use the later tranny you have to also use the later pilot bearing but you will have to get it from Chrysler because the bearing on the later one is a 2 piece unit, there is a large metal collar that fits in the end of the crank as well as the bearing and race, the parts store ones only supply you with the bearing/race they don't have the metal collar insert
you can also still use your existing Tcase all you really need to change is the input shaft if you get the 23 spline input from an earlier 231 you can just swap it into yours
you will also need both the tranny shifter, Tcase linkage and bracket from the AX/15

its not a lot of work at all if you get one from an early 90s truck. the ax-15 is super strong, the ba-10 is a piece of junk and i would never considering wheeling with one.

I agree completely with that, I still got my ax-15 and have no plans on changin that. Its probably the only thing "jeep" left in my rig.

i blew one of dem up haha. if you go with a 89-93 you can also use the stock pilot without modification. if you go 93 or newer, get some .020 shim stock and some slevloc compound, make a shim around the 93 bearing ( the pilot is bigger, but the outer bearing diameter is smaller) the pre 93 bearing size in the crank 1.051" after 93, its 1.000" (easier to machine I would be thinking) you wont be able to get a .025 shim in without damage, but using slevloc will fill the gaps and work no problem (both my 89 cherokee, and wifes 89 comanche have newer ax-15's in em, the comanche has a 96)

Well, since it's gonna cost a small fortune to do an AX-15 swap right now, I"m gonna look for a BA-10 to make it driveable for a short while. And at this writing, I'm preppin to head off to Winnipeg to spend xmas with the family so that's gonna suck some cash outta the kitty for a while.....

You gotta go to Winterpeg and you've got a BA10. Man could your life get any worse?:happy0045:
