Well a friend and I decided to do some snow wheeling yesterday and see how far up the Kookipi FSR we could go.

At the start of Harrison East

Playing at the big open gravel pit

Stopped by to pay respects to Chilliwack
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3113.jpg

Cloud cover was getting low, chances were good that we'd find snow
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3116.jpg

We ran into some dirtbikers that blew a tire, seeing as how there were three of them to our two, Indir did his best karate kid impersonation in an attempt to intimidate them.
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3117.jpg

After providing them with the use of his onboard air, we had a quick lunch
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3119.jpg

We stopped on the bridge that crosses over shovel creek
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3122.jpg
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3134.jpg

It was here that a year and half ago Indir and some friends were exploring when they came across this guy that was all frazzled saying his friend fell off the bridge doing karate kicks. (The story that Indir was previously telling the dirt bikers, hence the pose :D) They never did find the guy.

We spotted Granite Falls through the trees and decided to check them out
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3139.jpg

http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3141.jpg

The rocks surrounding the falls were carpeted with moss.

Mouth of the falls
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3145.jpg

There were some very interesting formations on the rocks, the pics don't do them justice, but there were grooves worn into the granite from years of water flow
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3169.jpg

We carried on in our search for snow. Indir found an interesting ditch and decided to play around
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3209.jpg

Hmmm I wonder where this trail leads
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3219.jpg

Jackpot, SNOW!!!!

Inder bringing up the rear

Quick pit stop to put the snow boots on
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3232.jpg

Look at that virgin snow
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3233.jpg

Indir's locked front & rear and was having difficulty breaking trail in the wet snow
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3234.jpg

I took the lead and was very impressed at how well my new MTR's handled in the snow.

From our vantage point, we could see across the valley the road that carries on to Boston Bar
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3252.jpg

That road ended in a turn about, so we carried on exploring, this trail looked promising
http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq109/inder_photos/Boston%20Bar%20Dec7/IMG_3250.jpg

But alas it too ended quickly due to a rock slide taking out the trail. It was getting late, so we decided to call it a day after a little more farting around.

Indir taking one more kick at the cat on the ditch

All in all it was an awesome day of wheeling around and checking stuff out.

I'll add more pics once I get them from Indir.

The MTR's handled awesome considering I'm open in the front. They just wouldn't stop chomping at that snow. My buddy was running BFG muds, both lockers engaged and had difficulty. I was able to break trail with ease. Even he was impressed! :D

I think we can all look at Dirka in a new light now, he actually does know something! :D

Very nice Mike, Does the rock slide mean the road will be impassable till the forestry fixes it or was it impassable because of the snow?

The rock slide took out a side trail, not the actual FSR. It looks as though it's been that way for a while and from the looks of the back roads map book wound up pretty much going nowhere.
