Hey, just working on a time lapse project about Nanaimo... thought since it's OUTSIDE in BC, I should share with you guys... I've got about 12 sequences down now, and plan to release a full video depicting Nanaimo in early 2009.

Downtown Sunrise shot the other day..and a couple others in there too:

..and a shot from the top of a warehouse, facing towards Mt. Benson last night... damn camera stopped taking frames at about 3:30pm and I MISSED that bright orange and pink sunset, which as you would imagine, would have been PRETTY FUCKN cool.. .grrrr... well.. I'll have to get up there again next week, tonight is so grey.

I'll be sure to post up the full project in early 2009.

speaking of that sunset last night [16] i've had my camera in the truck for a week and just took it in the house a few days ago

   driving home from work last night (UBC) I have so many vantage points that would have given me some freaking amazing shots but NOOOOOO .... my camera was at home

ooooh... I know the feeling. I hate it when that happens!

How done?

1 frame every 10 seconds on those ones, you can vary to taste.. depending how smooth you want it to be.. then I used Windows Movie Maker to drop them all together, but the final project I'm putting together in Adobe Premiere.

Not a lot of cameras have an intervalometer built in.. but mine does, so I didn't have to mickey mouse any interval controller, although I'm limited to 999 frames, which sounds like a lot, but in the big picture, it sure isn't!

999 frames isn't much when your doing them every 10 seconds

what camera body you shooting with?

@Princess: I shot this with a D200

@Jonny: I found that really interesting too... in fact, there are a lot of interesting things you can notice when you speed time up, it has changed how I look at weather, people's patterns, traffic patterns, the way shadows move during the day.. really eye opening.

I like doing that stuff , my jvc did it ,you could animate inanimate things . Iave done it with my camera but u almost need a laptop hooked to it to get it right , Iave done tides coming in which is cool .

mista fitz

Tides.. on my list to do.. but 6hrs to catch one tide, and better if I could catch two.... will have to figure out how to manage all that. Batteries/storage.. safe place for the camera for 12 hrs near a beach :p

theres lots for yours , I made one for my rebel but theres plenty for yours plus the IR one too , they dont make for the 50D which I think is dumass . I got one for mine off ebay for 7bucks

I run the camera on 110 with a inverter from the truck for tide shots

Don't be afraid of the chinese ebay brands, they seem to work fine, and you can buy 10 of them before it adds up to a real Nikon or Canon product!

Princess
12-10-2008, 09:30 AM
hmmm think i just found one, i've bought accessories from china before, batteries, remote, etc.... for the price you can't go wrong even if it breaks after a few uses

If you're feelin' spendy, this one will do intervals (http://cgi.ebay.com/Timer-Remote-Cord-Canon-EOS-5D-20D-30D-40D-50D-RS-80N3_W0QQitemZ230306839664QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamer a_Camcorder_Remotes?hash=item230306839664&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50)/has a timer, so you could setup for timelapses (I don't know if an interval timer is in the built-in menus of a 40D)
