Diesels should never have gone v8. out of balance every 2nd stroke. way less tourque and not as smooth. IF v8s were better all big rigs and industrial machines would have gone v8... Try and find a rebuildable v8 diesel block with more then 400k on it.:party0010:

Seriously? Loud Dodges sound badass, a V8 diesel just doesn't sound right. Not to mention Ford makes the worst diesels by far, I can't believe you actually said that. If you have some bizarre fetish for V8 diesels at least be all over the Duramax, it's the only decent V8 diesel on the market. The 7.3 is mediocre and 6.0 is complete garbage...I know hardcore Ford guys that wouldn't touch a Ford diesel.

sj-x 500
11-23-2008, 10:58 PM
interesting... where are you getting your information from?
ford, and cat along with international came up with the heui system used in the 7.3 power jokes, and did extensive work on the 6.0's.
dodge will still be using the cummins. seeing as the bluetec 6.5 ISBe meets the 2010 emssions standards it wouldn't make any sense to start over with a new mill.
cat is getting out of on highway engines, 2010 there is no more hd engines outside of the international platforms. mid range only. so i doubt they'd be straight up putting a new engine into anything other then the fords.

Get with the times, that "rumor" has been floating around for years. At one point cummins actually had something on their web page stating that was false and the only interest Ford had were a few non controlling shares.

If cummins wanted to, I'm sure they wouldn't have any problem buying ford....

to all the people with the 2nd gen 24v trucks getting shitty milage and lower power output maybe try cleaning your IAT sensor. It measures the temperature of the intake manifold. The ECM uses this sensor reading to set injection timing and adjust the air-fuel ratio. Its located at the rear of the intake manifold and gets plugged up with carbon. Engine with exhaust brakes are particularly prone to IAT sensor fouling because soot is blown back into the intake during valve overlap...to the 3rd gen trucks i dont know what they have for that setup but im sure its similar

Daimler don't own chrysler either now. It got sold almost a year ago. The conglomerate that owns em now can't give em away at half what they paid.
