I have a Viair 550 12V compressor. It gets power and you can hear the motor humming but no compressing is happening?

Not sure what kind of compressor but if it has a reed valve it might just be that broken, easy fix. If the motor is humming and the compressor is not doing anything it's likely seized up. Would probably blow the fuse tho. I'd take the compressor end off and have a look, they are pretty simple.

the 550s were notorious for having ring problems as well

OK..ok...let's say the fuse popped...and then some idiot jumped the connection because he had no fuses? Compressor filled about 10gals @ 150 ps1 5 gla tank twice). Didn't work next time the car was set down.

What would that lead to? Also, what would you suggest to fill a 5gal quickly for use in an air ride system?

the new viair set up is two 450's its nice i have it as a kit

and ring failure means the piston strokes but nolonger compresses the air
