An LT1 is a SBC with a roller cam, different ignition, and reverse cooling, you'd have to be pretty mechanically inept not to figure out how to mod one. And I'd be really interested to see one with TBI.

Yeeeaaaahhhhhh if memory serves me correctly, the LT1 was a multiport injected motor. never seen one with a TBI setup considering every LT1 I've seen has it's throttle body on it's side. however you could always install a spaer between manifold and throttle body, gain some extra power there, how I dunno but it does work.

Depends on the year of LT1. The 70 LT1 is a 370 hp 350, carbed, solid lifter, flat tappet cam.

Did you just pull that number out of your ass? There is a ton of aftermarket support for LT1's and prices are lower than they've ever been. You probably just don't know what actually makes horsepower, here's a hint, throwing brand names at a motor isn't it.

Pumpkin, yeah I realize there was an lt1 back in the musclecar era. But usually when people say LT1 they do mean the 4th gen F-body kind.

LT1 is just an 010 numbered block, big deal it was a four bolt main that was put in a car,any performance parts for an avarage 350 will beef the fucker up,cheap and affodable motor to build go buy a nice air gap intake, msd ignition, good set of headers and a killer carb and thats all you need for a good 350plus hp motor for ya[cheers]

You forgot, forged steel crank, forged domed pistons, 11 to1 compression, solid lifter cam. Factory built, and the 370 hp rating was very light due to insurance in the states they fudged hp numbers on the low side. I've read that it was actually closer to 420hp.

Not every 010 SBC is a four bolt main. Seen many that were 2 bolts. Not talking LT1, just SBC's

The only thing 010 means is 4" bore. 302, 327 or 350.

Yep. Ive seen 010 blocks that are 2 bolt as well. The early 70's truck 010 small blocks had high nickel content with 4 bolt mains that the racers all want around here, but are not LT1 blocks. The 010 is just the casting number - you have to pull the serial number to get the real story on the block.

it's not block that makes a lt1 it's the internals

Get an LT1 hot cam, lt4 intake and a set of lt4 heads or any aftermarket heads with roller rockers and you'll be laughing.. its a bit crowded in a camaro but it can be done just like any fox body 5.0
