View Full Version : Black Mountain-Damaged Land - Oct. 24/08

Today, Grannie, Mom and me go for a hike with our three dogs on Black Mountain.

First thing we saw was big diggers and bulldozers ripping up the land. Lots of land they are building on and not know what they are building there.

We walked around them and under the water ducts to get into the land to hike and look for any shed antlers.

We saw a quail and a little chipmunk which the dogs like to chase.

When we walk back, near the construction area, we saw a big blue chevy driving on the field road. I think driving my Toyota there would be fun too.:happy0045:

Looks like expansion in Kelowna will never stop, gotta keep building further and further out.

I wonder if that's my Father-in-laws project. They're putting in 300-400 lots up there. I'm not sure exactly where, it's up there somewhere and they're at about that point in construction.

It does look like there's some fun spots to drive up there, I might even go and do some exploring.....

Maybe the C of K will start to approve some highrises sometime soon and developers can cut down on the urban sprawl.

Thats just up beside my house. I'm sad to see this land all torn apart as I've grown up in this area. This spot which they are tearing up is Kelowna's ORIGINAL irrigation back from around the 20's Id presume. Neat flume and these tunnels under the ground that you can actually walk in and go right under the highway, thats if they arent torn up yet. I'll give it a week or two... Still very sad to see this go. From what I've been told, they are flooding the area just below the construction site as seen in the pictures for a resoviour. I wouldnt be surprised if this site is used for something to do with the dam... by looking at the first pic, they are making a wall of some kind.

neat shots......

when I was up there i was talking to the r/c plane guys (lease the land) and a land owner directly above there... they said its going to be a water resivoir(spelling)
will be a good size lake there and a dam of some kind aparently and alot of development in behind there(condos houses) with a golfcourse...the people in the area that I spoke to that have lived there for a while seem not to happy with it.....

I just got back from talking with the workers, and they are building a power sub-station and that the land is not to be used by 4x4ers haha
