just wanna know your ideas... i am starting my new rig soon.. and woundering what u think... is it worth it to build a d44... or should i just find a 60......

60 for sure. it will be harder to find and cost more up front but you will never regret it. and spend the $400 for 35 spline stub axles and hubs and you probly wont break anything unless your running 44"+ tires. or you have 600 hp. dana 44 should only be put in non full size trucks that have 4 cyl.

Not that I've wheeled my truck fora long time,,,,,,,,but I did get to put a major beating on my 44 before the truck got smoked. With 35's I was breaking axles like crazy, then a swapped in chrome molly axles with ctm style u joints, no more breaking. I like the ground clearance with the 44. If I was to step up to 40's or bigger, which is about where the ground clearance becomes equal, then I would probably go 60. I don't have plans to go bigger than 35's on this truck, so I think with the strong parts in the 44, I should be OK.

Well, if you want a drivers side 88-91 HP ford version 4.10s... I have one $1000, and if you want the chevy version with LP and passange side output 3.73s... it's also $1000
Both have the heavier shafts. Both are decent, but i haven't run either, so i would go through them probably.

well l just did a dana 60 swap on my 90 f-250 and got rid of that ttb bullshit. which was a d44. l never broke anything with the 33 incher l have on the d44 but am glad l have the 60 now. it was an easy swap if you have any questions feel free to ask. l would be glad to help.

icic.. would u recomend a dana 44 if it was gunna be for rock crawling.... im thinkin 36s and 38smax...
