Can't find my manual. How are stock factory ball joints put in. My top ball joint on drivers side is hooped. Is it easy to change? Any special tools needed? Kal Tire wants $97 for ball joint and 1 hour labour. Sounds good to me but I need to save moola for my mud bogger too! I did the ball joints on a 1981 10 bolt front couple years back...

Much easier then the SAS style, but for 1 hour labour, I'd let them get their hands dirty! That way if there's a problem, you'll get warranty on it (both parts and labour). Not that I see a lot of warranty ball joints mind you.

I agree, plus they are using Moog parts, "Made in the USA". I found my manual and the ball joint is press in so I'd still have to take the control arm in. Also they noted my shocks are shot, so for $550, (labour & taxes inc), they will install Monroe's best light truck reflex shock (larger piston) too. I figure thats a good deal too. Saves me lying on my back with 1.5 arms in my shop. I do have air but it would be a dusty, dirty job. The shocks are still original with 180,000 kms on them. I've know they have been shot for awhile...
