Zibi

Does the owner intend on leaving it stock? Unless he plans on putting some money into it to make it a capable rig it seems like itd be cheaper just to buy a new truck than put all the money into custom fibreglass work

or if he wants to keep a trusted vehicle around for that many more years, you get fiberglass from slacker, cause that shit will be around longer then when the truck falls apart from rust

what kind of panel adhesives do yu use? and how well does the glass hold up against cracking? and cracking through the paint is that ever an issue?

slacker
10-08-2008, 08:04 PM
panel adhieseve I use in the shop is *3M panel bonder #08115 .. The bond is guarenteed for LIFE , and is actually stronger then a weld ..

yep , thats right .. I said stronger then a weld .

The panel bonder is impervious to all ellements , will not rust or seperate , if applied correctly .. check out *3M's site for more info . , but all I can say , is 5 years with this product , and not one failier .

because of the NEW advances in products , I dont use just a "gereral purpose " resin .. like most manufactures .. I exclusivly use a ISO resin . Allthough more expencive , it is vertually impervious to shrinkage , and also makes for a "stronger" product .. I have yet to see any spiders in any of our products .. even after years of use .

Strength is un matchable , and lb for lb .. stronger then steel . There are some "strength test " vids on the site .. you might be paticularly interested in the 10LB sledge vid .. personally , I think it amazing .. check it out , it blows the steel away .

Thanks for the info dude!
Where do you get the resin from? I do alot of fiberglass work shrinkage and spider cracking are the bain of what I do is working time reasonable or the same as general resins is it still a polyester base?
As for panel adhesives I usually use Wurth its easy and I like their products and I dont have to leave the shop to get it. Big bonus when your lazy like me

I get my supplies from a little shop in Richmond .. Ultra LUX Plastics ..
and have for years .. George is a GREAT guy .

the're main supplier is Ashlynd .

and YES .. the ISO is still Polyester , just with different stabalizers ..
Way stronger , and stable resin ... but also much , MUCH more expencive ...

Very nice!

I had one of those '89 "Special Editions" back a few years ago. It was stolen and allowed me to buy my '84. Mine was rusted out worse than that thing when I got it, but still got 32mpg! I thought they were some kinda Alberta or Calgary thing... Seemed to be hundreds of them there.
