It might come out with an oil change........but I'm pretty sure dipstick sticks don't float all that well so it could be sitting on the bottom of the pan......Then again, who knows.....I don't as I can't see where the tube heads into the block at from here....just some ideas is all...

If it hit the pan don't worry. It weights enough it will just sit there and won't get into anything. Just don't turn the truck up side down :D

If it's still in the tube do as was suggested and pull the tube and take er out

id pull the pan.

good call... use a speed wrench and that pan'll be off faster then you can say "avoided mechanical damage"

Good excuse to look at your "bottom end"...:D

If you pull the pan that is.

If it broke off, the lower tube us probably not there. And the crank was rubbing on the dipstick till it broke. I'ld pull the pan to find out why the dipstick broke, and if the lower tube is the reason then at least the cause of the problem can be fixed.

You could drain the oil and put a magnet up there to try to find it to save you the work from dropping your oil pan. Thats if dipsticks are magnetic.
