Finally after waiting 5 months I was able to pick up the 1982 yota pick-up. 100% stock, 189,000km's, interior should clean up nearly factory clean and it just has a rust issue with the box which will probably be coming off so I am able to put a flat-deck on. I have yet to crawl undernieth but can I do a 3" shackle lift without running into any major problems?? Good websites that give tutorials??

When you get under there, take a chipping hammer and test the frame, especially around the spring mounts...

why fuck around with a shackle lift, weld your ass and save for a decent kit from marlin, all pro or trail gear and some diff gears

I have a 82 that was bought new by my father and have spent the past 15 years working on it. If you need a hand with anything, don't hesitate to ask..

That would be nice with the exception i'm up in Kelowna.

kamloopsyota, I already have a project truck that will be getting bagged and painted this winter. The Yota is just the trail rig to get some winter camping done and uh... the b2200 already has troubles making it up the driveway w/o that fluffy white stuff.

I tried doing pics today but the new batteries didnt have enough juice to turn the camera on. I picked up some 33's today and i'll see about squeezing them onto stock wheels. I put it up on jacks today and gave it a thorough look-over. I went over the frame with a wire brush and a screwdriver checking for rust and only managed to find one spot. Rear frame just above the drum on one side. Didnt seem the greatest so I marked where its at and I'll weld a plate in there in a few weeks. Everything else is is saturated with fresh undercoat. The bumpstops and perches are coming out, than i want to look into a 3" lift... shackles/blocks or add a leaf or two. I'd hate to change complete leaf packs on a 26yr old truck

The brakes are acting up. I can push on them and stop... the truck will stay still for a moment and than start rolling again... than I need to use the brakes some more. It'll move once again and stop finally once the brakes are on the floor. I thought mabye air in the lines, but it dosnt have that "gushy feel" to it. Would this be the brake booster or the master cyl??

IMHO, if your gonna undo one end of the springs to put 10" long shackles on it, why not put chevy springs in the rear and make the rears work up front? That would be good for a long time... Lotsa room for 33's...
Blocks arent the best way to go about this.... Nor are the 6" longer shackles your gonna need to get 3" of lift...
Once again, MY opinion....... Do what you like.

Yea your brake problem will be your master cylinder assuming your not actually leaking fluid.

Yeah, confirmed it was this last night. Found a new one in the box, but before I buy it off the guy I might want to work out something for the lift leafs also.

Still trying to find another pair of 33's Frame is in really good, I just finished going over it with a wire-brush and screwdriver and only found one spot that i'll look into next year. Undercoated the whole frame to slow down any rust. I'm also planning on putting a flat-deck on it next spring.

Im looking at a new master cylinder but it dosnt have the top plastic tank attached to it. How do I take off my old tank? It looks like screw threads but it dosnt seem to want to come off.

sitting stumped for awhile, I realized there was a nut inside of the cylinder. Go figure eh Got the new cylinder on and wow the brakes work great. mabye half inch of travel in the pedal and no air in the lines. Good first time :) Time to start figuring out a halloween trail run.

ah shit, I've got this metal on metal sound in the top end but only when the engine is at operating temp. Somehow I think the timing chain may be shot. Now dont I feel enthuzed to pull the engine apart in the cold/dark season. Anyone know the best place/price of a timing chain and all neccesary gaskets?
