not sure if this is the place for this but it applies to jeepers mostly....This hit my desk today as a co-worker knows I like to drive doorless, anyhow apparently this came to affect on August 7 of this year..verbatim what my sheet says

Re: Removable Vehicle Doors.....

This bulliten applies to ALL vehicles on highway and subject to British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act and Morot vehicle act Regulations.

CVSE has received numerous complaints and enquiries regarding vehicles operating on highway without the driver and / or passenger doors in place.

Reports most commonly idnetify certain makes and models of JEEPS as some of these vehicles have side doors EASILY removed.

ANY Vehicle operating on highway without doors represents a serius safety concern for the occupants as side intrusion protection and passenger containment would be compromised in the event of a collision.

Motor Vehicle Act Regulation division 7.09 (1) outlines the standards or the safety and repair of vehicles. In the associated schedule to division 7.09 (1), section 11 states

"Doors shall be installed in a vehicle where the vehicle was manufactured with doors. The doors with which the vehicle is equipped shall be in good working order, and ANY hinge, latch, or handle MUST NOT be missin, broken of inoperable."

Therefore, All vehicles manufactured with doors as original equipment MUST hav all doors in place functioning as described above while operating on highway to be in compliance with MVAR division 7.09 (1)

CVSE has determined that ONLY....ONLY....the Jeep 'CJ' model manufactured BEFORE 1986 may have been manufactured without doors.

FURTHER....CVSE has determined that the majority of side MIRRORS on JEEPS are affixed to the door. ANY vehicle operating wihtout driverside rear view mirror would be in vioplation.........blah blah blah....

anyhow you get the point.. This ws brought about on August 7 of this year.

any questions call Brian Kangas...250-953-4008

or Brian.kangas@gov.bc.ca (Brian.kangas@gov.bc.ca)

that is verbatim what my sheet says.....F#cking gay if you ask me, my door is all of 3 mm thick..WTF is it gonna stop anyhow..but thats just my opinion. http://iclickoffroad.com/board/Smileys/classic/rolleyes.gif

That is nothing new…it has always been that way……that is why I own old Jeeps ..I drive all the time with the front window down and doors off perfectly legal as the top and doors were a factory option.

Yup, nothing new there

I also have a set of soft lowers which they say is OK, [wako]so a thin layer of canvas is going to protect me in an MVA

I prefer doorless so I use my cloth halfs untill I get offroad

You gave yourself the answer.. some of the old CJ's had doors as an OPTION. and didn't have them when they ere sold / manufactured.

Quoted from above "Doors shall be installed in a vehicle where the vehicle was manufactured with doors"

I wonder what they think bout scouts they came with half doors shaped like the opening of an old cj and that was oem on the super scouts and there was optional soft door inserts for them to make it a full door
The half door section didnt open tho they bolted in

[cheers]If its for a yj/cj just pick up a mirror off a bike like this http://images.google.ca/url?q=http://www.hmhd.com/hdimages/91875-82.jpg&usg=AFQjCNGBWoVZxytCq15-_BBgbWjzXc_tPg when the door is off, slip it into the top hinge and tighten it up. It doesnt make ya legal as far as the no doors thin goes, but at least ya have mirrors
