Finally got lucky and the gate was open. There were a few others up there, but it was nice and quiet. Ran 6' Under, the Powerline Trail and Can-Opener. Had some "Bronco Gremlins" late in the day which meant I had to re-wire a few things for the drive home, and Indir broke his left front shock mount, but other than that it was a good day. Oh, and my damn winch didn't work when I needed it.
My full write up is here (http://chrisb.users.superford.org/Bronco/Trip_Reports/2008/August_30-08_@_Norrish_Creek.html), and here are some teasers.....

Likewise Dave. [cheers]

Are they active logging up there ? :dontknow:
Yes. Around the 12-15km mark there are several new roads cutting down towards Norrish. All the bridges have been replaced and any parts of the road that were washed-out have been extensively rebuilt. Once you get past the powerlines, there is one new bridge, then it is all the same; several washouts but do-able. I can't see them going any further (up Margret Creek Pass), but you never know.

The gate has been locked 3 of the times we've gone up there in the past 6 months, so finding the gate open was a treat.

actually it looks pretty easy.
I've only ran it once about 2 years ago.. I couldn't make it up the log.. the guy with me on 40's, the log was at teh top of his tire.

With the bed being raised, some of the BIG stuff isn't peaking its ugly head so much.

For the most part, the trail was more difficult then back in 2006 when we were last up there, mostly due to more larger rocks on the trail. The log looked way easier than last time, but still gave us some grief due to our wheelbase's. Here's a comparison.....

Going up the log in 2006:

sweet six ft under is the only trail i havent done up there. did you need lockers? was the gate just unlocked or gone?

Happypants
09-12-2008, 12:37 PM
we went up norrish last weekend, and there was a gate on the way to canopener, it was locked so we turned around and went to davis instead,

Bronco Boy
09-12-2008, 09:40 PM
did you need lockers?
Yes. The Explorer only had a rear LS last time we did this trail, and he managed to muscle his way through, but now with the ARB's, he just crawled along.

was the gate just unlocked or gone?
It was unlocked.

we went up norrish last weekend, and there was a gate on the way to canopener, it was locked so we turned around.....
Ya, there has been no ryhme nor reason as to when it has been open. Luck of the draw I guess.

ah your lucky, when we went up it was locked, lol there was some guys on quads trying to dig under it so they could keep going,
