So I installed 5.29's in my diffs in my '84 Toyota truck (lincoln locked the rear too) a few weeks ago, planned on breaking them in on my trip to BC, but when I tried to install my new u-bolt flip kit, the drivers side hit my steering...DAMMIT!

Truck ended up stayin home and had to take my LS. Much faster and more comfy, but not the same, and couldnt bring my boat. 20's arent the greatest on FSR's either... Whole nother crazy story there...

Anyways......

Got home, put new u-bolts on the drivers side till I can afford a hi-steer kit, and took the truck for a good highway shakedown run today... HOLY CRAP 5.29's are AWESOME!!! :happy0045: :happy0045: :happy0045: :happy0045: :happy0045: I have 5th gear again, and the thing will even accelerate going uphill!!! (Yes we have a couple fairly mild hills on the #1 thru here) This is my first experience with a welded rear, and with all the bad I've heard as of yet, I really dont mind it. Rained a bit today, nothing too strange... 35 miles of deep gravel and it didnt seem to do anything funny.

I missed my truck... Sooooooo much fun driving it again!

Ya, I'm thinkin snow could get exciting, but I'm sure I can handle it. I used to try to drift most corners anyways. Tee hee!!

Its not the drifting in the snow, its the pull to the right....You'll see.

its nothin close to drivin a muscle car....trust me i have both. but welded is the way to go, i've had 3 different toys all with welded rears and no troubles over 3 years.
