View Full Version : replacing water pump 1991 F250 diesel

I`ve done tons of water pumps on all sorts of vehicles but this will be the first time on the 7.3 IDI, which is my tow rig. Started weeping coolant and the only place I see it coming out is at the crank pulley. I`m guessing the water pump is leaking due to worn bearing and it is running down behind the crank pulley and onto the ground. if not, then I have bigger problems.
Anyway - does anyone know of any good websites, preferablywith diagrams and instructions

Gp to FTE they helped me save $2200 on a injector pump.
They live and breath Ford diesels.

I've done one on a early '90s 7.3.....it's not as easy as say the wp on a '91 F150 with the 5.0 but if you take your time and be careful, it'll go well, don't rush if it you do it your backyard.

It is done. Took the better part of the day, but now that I`ve done it once it would take a lot less time. Everything is bolted to that water pump - alt bracket, ps bracket, ac bracket.
While I was there I found the block drain plugs and completely drained the system and replaced with proper coolant with the right additives, and also did the lower rad hose cuz it looked iffy.
Got some good info searching on ford trucks as recommended by Longhorn. thanks again.

there almost heavy to hold and put the bolts in at the same time, how is the rad suport on that one, has it started cracking yet?
