probably nothing new to a lot of you, but we had never seen anything like this before. There was hundreds and hundreds of them squirming around, looked like a slimy black underwater carpet.

Mom was standing guard on her (school?)

Or was she waiting till it's time to eat some of them?

They spanned all the way across theboat launch, couldn't put in or get out without sqaushing a few..

If you look closely you can see their legs starting to form.

The slimy black carpet.

We were camping at Chute Lake last weekend when I took these. They're the only photos I took since I forgot the camera and left my phone in the truck most the time we were up there...

Cool I used to gather them by the bucketloads and feed em to little snakes when I was a kid spending my summers at kentucky lake.

if those are bull frog tadpoles they are bad news for the ecosystem apparently. Kunda shame cause they are pretty neat to see. BBy lake used to be loaded with them also.

if they are bullfrogs...only about 4-5 will survive out of all them....i have them in my pond in the back yard...this time of the year...they are crazy...but in a few month you will see allot of them die off and get eaten...great food for the fishes in the pond. ;)

I'm not sure if they're bullfrogs, mama didn't really look like what I think of as bullfrogs but I'm no authority on the subject. They were dying off in droves though. There was lots of them washed up on shore and apparently (as I was told by local) mama does eat most of them, so maybe they are bullfrogs...

If anyone is going the rock crawling competition up there this weekend you should go around to the forestry boat launch and see how these critters are doin. It'd be neat to see how much they change in one week.....

We were at Kentucky Lake a few weeks ago (our cottage is nearby) and my daughter was fishing the kids' lake (never seen a fish come outta there, although they say it's stocked... but hey, good practice) and we saw the same thing.
Poor dustoff has to work and the kids are not in daycare, so the girls and I are gonna go up and try Boot or Island Lake with flies this week.

Daisy's actually got a pretty mean cast- she takes it seriously and keeps going, even without reward

My pups love swimming (well, which dogs don't, I suppose?). Both dogs got hit by a car last Sunday night.... was really dodgy, but they're both doing OK. An absolute nightmare.

There were deer EVERYWHERE. This is on Kane Valley Rd....
