i have a 1990 tracker with the 1.6 auto and when we give it gass it boggs out and stals. when you first start it it runs fine than it does the normal reving up and down and than it starts to idle like crap and than stals. we have changed the main fuel filter and it still did it. can anyone help me out?

Is this when the motor is cold or warm? or even both....

I would go with the TPS first. VERY easy to change.

With the 1.3L i have. ( it is excatly the same motor other than stroke and the head), I changed the temp sensor of all things and it worked. Don't ask me why but I found that fix on zuwharrie.

But to know if it is a cold run or warm run will make a ton of difference.

both hot and cold. and the temp sensor has bin changed

wso now i have changed the whole intake that i know works and it is still doing it i start it and about 30. to a min it reves down and than there is no go

fuel pump could be packing it in or the connection behind the left rear tail light is packing it in causing incresed resistance and getting hotter with use till it calfs.

a buddy of mine had same prob. cant remember exactly what we did to fix but ill find out for ya

so i was mwssing around and made some sort of jimmy riggin and now insted of 30 seconds it well last like 5 min

i had a 94 sidekick and was doing the same thing turned out that the computer was fucked took it to Japan Auto on westrail way in abbotsford and he hooked me up with a killer deal

check main relay and fuel pump relay for switching by ingnition
if that dont work then read on.



well first yeh got that set up wrong


theres a fuel pressure regulator up front

where the fuel comes in thats the return line you got off the back.....



its goes from a fitting block on left side frame follow up to front of throttlebody then theres a hose that got to somthing like -[]- that

pull it off before that then check for fuel from fuel pump they should put out around 35 to 40 pressure

then see if it has spark


check the CAS ( crank angle sensor ) that grounds the coil and the coil grounds it to get spark through your rotor to your distributor to your wires then plugs

and if you got spark then i would be lookin for proper compression

in all 4 cylinders

then if your got all three

fuel spark compression

it will run


i would recommend runner some cleaner in the fuel to clean fuel system out ( replace fuel filter it could be your problem gummed up )


and if none of that works or does anything im stumped

Sorry, I still cant find a manual. http://pdftown.com/PDF-Suzuki-Sidekick-1996-Service-Manual.html is for my engine. Get a feel for how the engine starts off by disconnecting things and checking for response. I can unplug my MAF and have it rev until it warms up then it chugs and stalls, maybe this is the culprit. Since the temp senders are changed, you are left with the fuel rail, timing, TPS. Any codes from your computron?
