Well I managed to squeeze 12 days out of 5 vacation days + the long weekend, so we decided to ....

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8268.jpg

Hop the ferry over to

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8603.jpg

We met up with a few friends just outside of Egmont for some camping alongside the lake
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8589.jpg

I decided to go sit at the dock and try my luck at catching some fish
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8296.jpg

Turns out they knew I was there and special delivered me a shot of scotch & a lovely little note
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8291.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8303.jpg

I think it was one of these three culprits that sent it
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8395.jpg

My friends daughter was so cute showing off her fishing attire
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8359.jpg

The girls chilling dockside
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8287.jpg

Tammy tipping back a blender drink in honor of Canada day
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/Canaday035.jpg

I was feeling no pain!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/Canaday059.jpg

Then it was off to a friend's dive boat moored in the marina at Egmont
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8404.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8405.jpg

Turns out due to mechanical issues he couldn't go diving until it was hauled back to Van for repairs, but we went on a slow cruise around the islands, turns out we had a stowaway
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8440.jpg

so back to the campsite for some more wonderful blender drinks.

Warblender would love the modified blender with an RX7 starter motor & warn quick connects
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8473.jpg

Little did we know the tour de France was running right through the campsite. There must have been 200 mountain bikers cruising through
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8525.jpg

After that we bid adieu to our friends and headed over to Saltery Bay. We stayed a night at Mermaid Cove and witnessed an awesome sunset & crazy thunderstorm that night
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8658.jpg

it had Riley howling at the moon
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8693.jpg

The next day we passed through Powel River on our way to Lund and came across an awesome fsr campsite just before town
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9656.jpg

It's apparently a great wreck dive spot
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/Canaday140.jpg

our fire pit over looking the ocean & Savary Island
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9658.jpg

we had even more great sunsets to view
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8881.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9069.jpg

Tammy & Riley chilled in the hammock enjoying the awesome view & weather
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/Canaday101.jpg

& then chilling on the rocks enjoying the sun
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9502.jpg

I took the liberty to finally go fly a kite as Tammy's always telling me to
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8720.jpg

It was so nice that my crabs decided to come out for a little sun tanning
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_8844.jpg

Then it was off to Savary for the day. We waited for the water taxi to take us across
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9075.jpg

Who knew packing a cooler full of beer & wine could be soooo heavy on a hot sunny day
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9084.jpg

When they say that Savary is the Hawaii of BC, they were'nt lying
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9099.jpg

Riley was enjoying it
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9092.jpg

It got a little too hot for her though, and not really being a water dog, she decided to build herself a little shanty complete with mailing address
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9129.jpg

She even let me bury her in the sand
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/Canaday124.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9245.jpg

Thanks Dad, that was fun
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9200.jpg

After that it was a little skurfing along the beach
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9291.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9350.jpg

And of course it wouldn't be a white sand beach without the gratuitous Corona shot
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9257.jpg

I got a kick out of their sign, and here I though I was legal to park in these spots
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/mikewild/a-canadaday/IMG_9494.jpg

At the end of it all yesterday, I think Riley was a little miffed that we were heading home

dove that site a while back, didnt do the wreck, but the little island thats there is neat too. the wreck used to be fairly shallow, but a salvage operation used a charge to blow the screw (prop) off the shaft, shifted the wreck and it slid down the wall so that the shallowest part is over 100foot thats the story I heard anyways...

yeah, at first he thought it was the u-joints, he tore it down, but as it turns out he stripped some teeth off of the gear set. $800 for a new set.

I love it here in Powell River. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather live. THe lakes and ocean right at your door step. Savary Island has some of the best beaches I've seen anywhere. Nice pics glad you had a good trip through town. Yes the boardwalk is still there it now has a restaraunt at the end. (Good food too by the way)
