Hello,
My 2 cross members on my frame in the rear are getting pretty worn and need replacing. My friend has a shop and we are going to be putting a new box on so I was thinking replace them and soda blast my frame. What would i use for replacing or can I buy them some where? I was thinking of buying thick flat peice of steel (2) and weld them in flat. Will this work? Or any other ways I should look into?
Thanks
Chris

Use a piece of hollow square structural and make them so that they bolt into the old holes/rivets from the previous crossmember...don't weld them to the flanges of the frame...your asking for trouble by putting a thick piece of steel in that is thicker than your frame as in your frame will be stressed and may crack. another technique is to "box in" your frame and then proceed with drilling holes all the way through and then bolting in your crossmember through those holes...Ed
