needs a flash , after 2x it gets dam dark even in viewfinder .. ,,, tripod is pretty much mandatory after 2X also . I havnt taken much at 5X , very hard to get everything right .Lens is all manual , auto nothing ....unless I had a markII or III behind it .

beats the crap out of a reverse 50 :party0010:

I imagine you looked at some of the flash options and went: OMG $$$$

I can recommend something cheap and easy in the meantime (that's what she said)... find yourself any old hotshoe flash (try and find one that you can adjust the output power manually, but if not, you can make that work too, I can tell you how) ..and get one of these:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b398/auction-ebay/NewTrigger.jpg

Attach this to the hotshoe of the flash, now you can trigger it with your pop-up flash.

Another SUPER cheap option, $20 at London Drugs:

It has the slave built in, so your flash fires, and this one will flash with it.

You'll find using flash will really help because you can crank the aperture up and get more depth of field.

OR.. just save up and get an SB-600 - they're awesome.

Some cheap flash recommendations to search in buy&sells: Vivitar 283, Vivitar 285, Nikon SB-24
