Hello,
I am new to the welding world never really welded but have been around it for awhile. I need to weld in patches on my floor pan and weld in body panel patches for my truck. My question is I will need to buy a welder, this is all its going to be used for is panels n pans. I am looking for something cheap because its prob only going to be used once or twice in a year. How much amps in a welder do I need for this project? how thick of wire and how thick of metal should I use to do the panels n pans. What type of welder should i buy?
Thanks
Chris

This little Lincon MiG is great, 110v,125amps.
I have welded 3/16" with it no problem and its good for thin stuff.

How much do they cost and where is the best place to buy them? Nice little work setup that owns the drive way for me :)

Try KMS tools.
My lincoln is about 10 years old so I have no idea what they cost now.

I think around 300-500 ?

300 -500 will get ya into a 110volt setup and be fine for just autobody style work

Me too that is what I used to replace and patch the floors on my last Scout and replacing the front bodymounts on my current Scout. Works awsome![cheers]
