Well I have been waiting a long time for it, but finally I got a green light from the wife. Went and visited B today and handed over a bunch of my hard earned cash(Thanx for helping me out B![cheers] ). Rubicon 4 1/2 extreme, S.Y.E., gears for the D30 and another D35, and top it all off with some Truxus 35's[36] [36] [36] [36] . Gonna take awhile to get everything in and ready for install, I have waited this long I can wait a little more:dontknow: . Looking like either the week-end of June 21st or the 28th, depending on parts. Gonna have a fully stocked fridge and the wife is fantastic on the BBQ.......if ya wanna help me wrench that is. Livin in Mission, let me know if ya wanna help out and I'll keep in touch.:happy0045:

a tip

im not sure what bolts come with the rubi kit and how complete it is in the box.

but have a look and buy some new ones for the ones that they expect you to re use.

a example is the bolts that hold the leaf spring to the jeeps frame are often a bitch

makes the lift so much faster if ya just cut away the old ones.
and all new bolts are cool.

SWEET! Oh, the dishwasher works good for a parts washer as well, FYI. Is that a trackbar mount on a leaf sprung rear end?

*Edit - If I come over and open the fridge I had better see lots of beer and not gear oil.

Tinker
06-12-2008, 05:37 PM
The one thats plugged in has the beer in it! ie the inside one
Just trying to figure out when to start. You got a gear puller or torque wrench? Need on for the SYE and the tranny.:happy0045:

And yes that is a track bar mount, not to be used!

Fianally got started. Sway bar came off nice and easy, not so for the draglink and pitman arm[16] . Day 1 and that was all I got done. Day 2, after a G/Y shift, U-bolts and spring plates off, brake lines siezed and then stripped,[28] FAWK! Bought a flaring tool and cut em off and put new fittings on. My own fault stripped em a couple of years ago and knew when I started it would be the case. Junk pile getting bigger, hopefully today will prove to be more productive.[36]

Kinslayer
06-19-2008, 01:29 PM
haha yeah that's generally how it goes.. gets to a point when you 'stock' short peices of brake line and various fittings on a shelf right beside your flare tool so you can cut em off and add an extra foot when you chop it back heh.

Late start, went for breakfast, relaxed then got to work about 12:30. No real problems on the rear, minus the fact I had to drop the gas tank (experienced pro!) to remove the old shackle bolts. Gotta go pay the day care and pick up the kids, hope to get back on it later.......[36]

Why didn't you take out the TOP bolts on the shackle?

Tinker
06-20-2008, 05:24 PM
It was the top bolt, bolt towards the gas tank nut on the outside. Don't know why it was that way but....???!!!!!! Going as fast as I can , first time I've lifted a truck and trying to remain methodical about it ( not throwing a hammer through the windshield)

Well its been awhile and no updates. I am really quite ashamed of myself, I'll explain. Picked up a rebuilt tranny for the yj and figured I was off to the races, WRONG. Been fighting trying to get the new tranny in to no avail. Fianally pulled out the new clutch to find out why. When I changed the pilot bearing I never checked the shaft to see if it fit. I pulled out a 91 tranny and replaced with a 95 AX 15. From what I can put together the 91 has a 1/2 inch shaft and the 95 has a 3/4 inch shaft, both were AX 15's, I think? The smaller p/b is for a 2.5L, Fawk. All is good now that I got the correct p/b. Tranny is installed. Dumbass!

did you make sure to put rtv on the ends of the seal? i believe its a 2 peice and you need to put some rtv on the ends on top and bottom or it will leak outta there, otherwise you may have not set it in properly,

Tinker
07-04-2008, 01:42 AM
Once again acting like a rookie. The pan gasket was kinked at the journal and I didn't notice till I pulled the pan off. I am gonna kick myself in the ass. Gotta be more patient and careful, in a rush to git r' dun....The rear seal seated perfectly.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!![36] [36] [36] Wow, alot of work and alot of set backs. But managed to remain calm and keep a positive attitude (not throwing shit). All is good, not a drop of oil out of the engine! Can't say the same for the T-case, should have changed the front yoke seal, Oops. Well that's enough, time to button everything up and get to the alignment shop![36] [36] [36]

Oh and before anybody asks, No, he will never do another d30. Got an AMC 20 and I am sure you could work something out! Soooooo, who wants to go wheelin?[36] Got some more pics, none of the gears, too busy, but a few others. Thank-you to everybody that helped me through this. Glad I did the brunt of the work myself, a little pat on my own back, See ya on the trails![cheers]
