Is it common for the 4x4 light on the dash to quit working?
Mine quit coming back down from the kvr but there wasn't anywhere to really put it to a test to see if 4wd was working still. It does go into low range.
I dont see any wires hanging anywhere.

yeah......... as long as there is no crunching or banging when ya shift in then everything should be working ok with the tcase.

If the hubs are sticking that is another thing.......... although a few good whacks with a bfh usually make them engage :D

As long as everything shifts and moves and feels like it always did then it is just dash light or the light switch in the tcase that is nfg

same thing happens in manual trannys with the backup light switch
ya still back up but the lights dont come on.

could be as simple as the wiring plug for the switch is dirty or loose

Uhhh? So should i be worried about it?
It has always been a bit noisy going into 4hi since i got it but was working all day. I was in some water and mud today but no more than any other time.

sorry...... I was j/k about the ford thing

just find a place where you can test the front drive

gravel road is good

boot it in 2wd and you should spin the back tires good before you get going

boot it in 4wd and you will know right away if the 4wd is working or not
it should just get up and go

91 F-150 with a 5.0L auto. So it never really gets up and goes :D
It felt like it was engaged when i turned around in a parking lot but not completely sure.

It is probably just bad wires
with manual tcase you have to really break something before it won't go into 4wd and you would be able to feel that it was not shifting in right

with the electric solenoid tcases you never know if it is the light or the solenoid until you actually try to drive through something

Well i tested it today and 4wd is working without the light but i also had one instance today where i had to put it in neutral to get it to start. It wouldn't do anything in park, im thinking i must have hooked the wires under the truck on something.
