View Full Version : N00b question.
I'm new to the 4x4 trucks and relatively new to learning about cars in general.
I'm looking to ditch my car and pick up a 4.0l Cherokee, leaning towards a 98, and I need something cheap and reliable, it will be a daily driver as well as a slow weekend trek project, my question is, what would be suitable KMs for this engine and still be around the 2-3G mark? What is the higher end of these engines? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

that 4.0L is a strong motor!! my 2cents. I guess for your price range it all depends on what you come across. I picked up my 1996 Cherokee for $19.. no rust and a new trany, it only had 147km's.... Then again I'm a car dealer so it isn't hard to find something for me.
I would say you would be looking at the 250 + km range.

a xj with 240000 k on it is still plenty strong, mine has 312000 and 36`s on it and its still hits 150/160km no problem the newer, 95+ you will be spending more than $5000 on one, 91+ you get the 4.0HO and you can get them cheaper, around 1200 to 2000 bucks,

I wouldn't spend too much time with any other motor than the 4L in these things..
