Hey man my 73 Blazer d-44 has the perfect pass side knuckle for your hi steer mod.It has a big flat pad cast on top, not sure which way your tie rod goes from, top or bottom but this is top down. If your moving both up it wont matter.Another possible option is mid70s-80s wagoneer. Good luck.

if it is an 8lug ford d44 you just need to have them machined, the 5 lug ones look like flattops but are not.

you can even machine the 5-lug ones from what ive been reading. Poly performance and sky-manufacturing have lots of options as for steering arms etc.

it has to be a "flat top" syle knuckle.. the standard ones. (such as what is found on a 78/79 F150 or bronco), cannot be machined.

what size tires can i run with this 8 bolt d44? without braking alot... thinkin of a engine swap and some power.

look at it this way..
I broke 2 stock axles (same as your).
1 Broke 1 alloy (with crawler gears this time)
broke alloy took out detroit.

I have a 130HP engine. and 36" tires.

make the decision yourself

depending on how much "some power" is, id say 35's max. the more power you have the smaller the tire or you will break stuff. swap in a 500,000 km blue smoke blowing auto 4 cyl and you could prolly run 44's without breaking haha

small ujoints and flexible yoke on the axles.
you will learn how to change axles a lot even on 35s if you are locked up.
I wouldnt even consider using stock shafts on a d44 as a set of Yukons or similar are about $400 set up for full circle snaprings.
