wondering if tj's and yj internals are interchangable? axle shafts R&P's? also what gears i should go to as i did the wifes jeep with a 4" lift and 33's AUTO tranny!! 410's lower??? its a daily driver and weekend warrior

I think 4:10s are good for 33's .. lots of people run em with 3:73s. As for internals if its a d30 to d30 swap it should be fine..?

The front D30's are different. TJ is Low Pinion and YJ is High Pinion, so the ring and pinions won't interchange.

Only the short side axle shaft (drivers side) on a TJ is the same as 92-95 YJ and the knuckles brakes and wheel bearings are the same as 90 and up YJs everything else pretty much is different. YJs are high pinion with a disconect axle on the pass side and TJs are low pinion and no disconect axle.

Be carefull selecting gear ratios with YJs and early TJs with autos they have no overdrive so if you get to low a gear ratio they will be the shits to drive on the highway. 4.10s is about as low as I would go with the auto trans in them and 33s

I have 3:73's on 31's with a 5 speed tranny, and I feel comfortable with upgrading them to 33's....

I am not 100% sure on the gearing differance between auto and standard, but I would do it...

One note though... 3:73's are hard to find for D30 When I did my re-gearing I had to buy the whole D30 because nobody would part the Ring and Pinion... Also, you may want to look into if you need a new carrier.. I know some ring gears are thicker then others....

what im wondering is if f150 (rods) rear axle inner parts will swap into my wifes tj rear housing his is locked w/ upgraded shafts new brakes bearings etc etc i was thinking 410's would be about as low as id wanna go for gears but wasnt to sure being an auto [cheers]

I'd do it...
TJ diff to TJ diff... should be a direct bolt in...

personally, I would wait for a D44....
I found a D44 from a rolled sahara for $150.00
