Ive got a 98 tacoma with a 2.7 mtr. Its pretty dam gutless with 35's. I have an opportunity to pick up a 4.0l out of a smashed 07 taco. Does anyone know if it will fit, and how much of a prick the wiring would be? Would it bolt up to my w57 tranny?[15] [15]

There isn't as much info on these swaps as there is for the 3.4, I've heard wiring could be fun.

I know this guy did it on an older model truck that came with a 3.0L:

Anything can be done, but you might be better off giving that engine to me...:dontknow:

If you do the swap, whats going to happen to the 3rz?

regear to 5.29's and it wont feel gutless anymore. youre probably on stock 4.10's. with enough money, anything will fit. but for a couple G's, you can be double locked and geared. problems solved.

I dont understand how a 98 Tacoma with a 2.7L engine on 35's would be gutlass... I drove my 82 with the stock 22r with 4:10's welded on 35's for 3 years then on 37's for another year... I still the 22r, it's now beefed up and I have 5.29's a detroit in the rear and an ARB in the front. It is not the most powerfull sewing machine but I can keep up with the best of them.
As far as the swap, It would probably be easier to install a 3.4l rather than a 4.0l...
